Hong
Kong Nutrition Association Ltd. is a society of nutrition professionals
incorporated in Hong Kong. Full members are qualified dietitians and nutritionists
recognized by the Association. Associate members are those with a degree
or diploma in food science, catering management, home economics or medicine.
We are also open to students currently enrolled in a dietetic / nutrition
programs in an accredited institution.
Aims
- To promote "Optimal Nutrition
for Better Health" based on evidence-based scientific knowledge
to the people of Hong Kong.
- To conduct nutrition programs and
research, and public education projects in partnership with governmental
and non-governmental organizations.
- To disseminate unique nutritional
information to interpret and clarify nutritional controversies based
on currently available scientific evidence or consensus.
- To undertake scientific research on
links between food, diet and health.
- To facilitate academic and internship
programs for training dietitians and nutritionists in Hong Kong.
- To network Hong Kong and international
dietitians and nutritionists to facilitate updating and exchange of
professional knowledge and skills.
- To promote national and international scientific exchange,
training and education on issues of nutrition and health.
History
The former Hong Kong Nutrition Association was a registered
professional learned society established in 1980 by a group of dietitians
and nutritionists. In 1994, Hong Kong Nutrition Association Ltd., a charitable
society of public character, was incorporated to took over the business
of the former Hong Kong Nutrition Association.
